The Challenge

Italiving is a German e-commerce selling premium decorative items and food specialties from Italy. It serves a niche market and aims at delivering original, quality products to the German consumer that he would otherwise not have easy access to.

When we started, they were in business for less than a year and had a ROAS (Return On Ad Spend) of 1,5 on average. They needed to grow to economic sustainability. Other agencies left a messy purchase tracking and weren’t able to help the client further or saw no growth potential. So we stepped in.

What we did

Campaign segmentation by product category and campaign type: Dynamic Search & Brand, Standard Shopping for products with specific search intent, Performance Max for unique products with no search volume (e.g. fruit vases) and for broader array of everyday products

Set up of new purchase and event tracking (add to cart, begin checkout etc.) with Google Tag Manager & datalayers for optimal data collection and campaign performance monitoring and optimization

Feed optimization by enhancing titles, images, descriptions and by enabling proper recording of user’s product views on website by matching the feed in Merchant Center and Shopify with custom Javascript code

Extensive campaign type testing (Performance Max, Standard Shopping, Search, Display, Youtube Shorts)

Dynamic remarketing campaigns to convert users that visited the store but didn’t make a purchase

Recommendation to also do Facebook Ads for specific products (referred to specialist)

REVENUE

Doubled the revenue within a month (April to May 2023)

ROAS

Return on ad spend doubled from 1,5 to 3 in a niche market

Before the start of the collaboration in October 2022 the client’s ROAS on Google Ads was 1,5. That’s a return of 1,50€ for every 1€ spent. It turned out that we were right to assume more potential.

We first had to fix a lot of technical issues from setting up proper purchase and event tracking to a new store in Shopify over feed enhancements to getting rid of legacy issues. This took some time as it also involved third parties. When we were finally ready to get going, the results started coming in.

We were able to double the revenue from one month to the next and keep it constant after that.

Our recommendation to additionally run Facebook Ads has further increased the sales for our client.

We were able to steadily grow the Google Ads ROAS from 2,4 to 3 in our months (April 2023 to July 2023) which is good for a niche store.

In total we were able to double the client’s Google Ads ROAS from 1,5 to 3.
